Power line technician with Swiss Federal VET Diploma, 3-year apprenticeship

Power line construction is essential to ensuring that we are supplied with electricity everywhere and at all times. It is the key to providing us with a reliable power supply and an uninterrupted flow of electricity and data. If you choose to learn this trade, you will build, repair and maintain systems for transporting and distributing electrical energy. You work with communication networks, power lines for electrically powered public transport vehicles, high-voltage systems, transformer stations and public lighting installations.

Safety and teamwork are vital pillars of power line construction. You and your colleagues have to be able to rely on one another at all times.

As a power line technician, you mainly work outdoors. You will attend the vocational school every week and undergo extensive training to learn about the hazards involved in working with electricity. In every year of your apprenticeship, you will also benefit from a branch course at the relevant training centre, where you will learn and build on the practical foundations for your vocation. Upon passing your final apprenticeship examination, you will complete your studies and gain the Swiss Federal VET Diploma.
