Who we are

The Burkhalter Group is Switzerland’s leading provider of electrical engineering services to the construction sector. We currently have 83 group companies at 169 locations throughout the country, staffed by some 5400 employees including around 1000 apprentices. Thanks to our group structure, we are able to implement projects of all sizes whilst taking local conditions and individual needs into account.

The story of the Burkhalter Group begins in 1959, when Ruth and Ernst Burkhalter established an individual company in Zurich and took on four employees. The company was sold to the Zellweger-Luwa Group in 1987, with further management buy-outs following in 1997 and 2000. Burkhalter Holding AG has been listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange AG since June 2008.

The merger with poenina holding ag at the end of June 2022 has transformed us from an electrical engineering company to a building technology company. As such, our long-term goal is to contribute to the implementation of the Federal Government’s Energy Strategy 2050 and to enhance the energy efficiency of the Swiss building stock / to make the Swiss building stock energy-efficient. Our ambition in this regard is reflected in the colour green, which also serves as a guiding light for us in promoting sustainability at the Burkhalter Group.
